MCG seals illegal commercial building in old Gurugram

GURUGRAM: An illegal under-construction commercial building was sealed by MCG near Pataudi Chowk in old Gurugram for not having an approved building plan.According to civic body officials, they had received a complaint against the illegal construction through the CM window. As per norm, we have sealed the building,” said an MCG official. “We had earlier asked the property owner to produce the building plan approvals for the ongoing construction, but he could not produce the same,” he added.Officials said they have been carrying out sealing drives following directions from the MCG commissioner . Interestingly, the property owner was carrying out the construction of the new structure behind the old building so that it was not visible from the main road.“After an initial inquiry, it was found out that the construction was being done without the required building plan approval. All the temporary stalls and carts were removed from the footpaths.

As per norm, we have sealed the building,” said an MCG official. “We had earlier asked the property owner to produce the building plan approvals for the ongoing construction, but he could not produce the same,” he added.Officials said they have been carrying out sealing drives following directions from the MCG commissioner . “No construction work can be done without an approved building plan and police complaints could be lodged against anyone found guilty of such violations,” said the official.In order to bring in more transparency in the process of building plan clearances, the corporation has also been pushing their online approval system instead of people approaching officials personally.On Wednesday, the enforcement wing of MCG had conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Sector 57. All the temporary stalls and carts were removed from the footpaths. “We have warned the vendors against coming back. In case they set up their carts in this area again, strict action will be taken against them,” said an enforcement wing official.There is rampant encroachment in commercial areas across the city. And in order to deal with the menace, “four teams have been constituted, one per zone that will work solely towards freeing the public spaces and market areas of temporary encroachments”, the official added.
