ROHTAK: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ashok Tanwar on Saturday said party candidates would contest civic bodies' elections in the state on its symbol and was fully prepared to pin down its opponents in Rohtak Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Tanwar indicated that youths might be given priority in ticket distribution in the upcoming 2019 state assembly polls and exhorted them to join the grand old party.He added that the decision was taken after feedback from ground-level workers, who were in favour to contest all upcoming elections on party symbol to give a strong message that party stands for them.Tanwar said if the need was felt to replace candidates on the existing assembly constituencies, it would be done. He also announced to start the third leg of his 'cycle yatra' from GarhiSamplaKiloi, home constituency of former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Attacking ruling BJP in Haryana, Tanwar said the regime had understood that its days in power were numbered and was biding time by holding campaigns like 'chai pakora ' party. Raising question on the decision to buy a new plane by the Haryana government, he said it was ironic that it did not have funds for fixing the long-standing issues concerning public but could splurge on buying expensive cars first and now a plane at the cost of tax payers' money.On his differences with Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Tanwar said he was executing the work entrusted on his shoulders and was committed to change the regime in Haryana. "I am ready for holding any responsibility given to me by party high command," he said on his aspirations of being the CM if Congress was voted to power
