Gurugram: 10-year-old girl dies after car hits her, driver flees spot

GURUGRAM: A 10-year-old girl died after a speeding car hit her, while she was crossing the road in Sector 94 on Wednesday morning. “I was standing outside my office when I saw the girl crossing the road and a speeding car hit her. Around 10am on Wednesday, the girl, who was returning from her father’s shop, was hit by a speeding car while crossing the road. He noted down the car’s registration number and rushed the girl to Rockland Hospital in his car. We are trying to trace the car driver and will soon arrest him,” said sub-inspector Satpal Singh, the investigating officer.

An onlooker rushed her to Rockland hospital, Manesar where she succumbed to her injuries. An FIR has been registered at Sector 10 A police station and police are trying to identifyand track the driver.The girl, Jasmine Ali, hailing from Assam, lived with her family in a rented accommodation in Hayatpur village. Her father is a ragman and has a shop at Sector 94 road in Hayatpur. Around 10am on Wednesday, the girl, who was returning from her father’s shop, was hit by a speeding car while crossing the road. The accused fled the spot immediately. The girl sustained critical injuries to her forehead and other parts of the body.A property dealer, whose office is located close to the spot, was a witness to the accident . He noted down the car’s registration number and rushed the girl to Rockland Hospital in his car. “I was standing outside my office when I saw the girl crossing the road and a speeding car hit her. I rushed her to hospital but could not save her. It was a red-coloured Tata Bolt and the driver didn’t even stop,” said Deepak, the property dealer, in his police statement.Idish Ali, the girl’s father was not at his shop at the time of the accident and reached the hospital on being informed. An FIR has been registered against the driver under sections 279 (rash driving), 304A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety) of the IPC at Sector 10A police station.“We handed over the body to her kin after post-mortem. We have found that the car is registered in name of one Raghvinder. We are trying to trace the car driver and will soon arrest him,” said sub-inspector Satpal Singh, the investigating officer.
