Gurugram: Neighbour slaps woman for fat-shaming him, held

GURUGRAM: A Nirvana Country resident working as a manager with a Delhi-based company was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly slapping a woman, who is his neighbour. He was let off on bail by a city court,” said inspector Poonam Hudda, SHO of the women’s police station. He even attacked another neighbour who intervened,” said the woman in her FIR. She had allegedly made fun of his obesity and criticised him over how he took care of his two dogs . When the woman compared the accused’s health with that of his dogs, he first sent a text on a WhatsApp group, and when the woman objected, he slapped her.

She had allegedly made fun of his obesity and criticised him over how he took care of his two dogs . The man was produced in a city court the same day, and now he is now out on bail.Around 8.30pm on Tuesday, the 42-year-old man was walking his two dogs in the Sector 50 area. The woman, who is around 35 years old, allegedly mocked him, saying if he shared his food with the dogs, he would not be fat and the dogs would be healthier. According to sources, the woman is an animal lover.She insisted it was a joke but the man took umbrage and allegedly posted an objectionable message about her on a WhatsApp group for society residents.This infuriated the woman who confronted him on Wednesday. An argument ensued during which he slapped her and she called police.A police team from the Sector 50 police station reached the society and informed the women’s police station about the case. The duo were taken to the women’s police station where the woman lodged a complaint.An FIR was registered against the man under sections 354D (stalking), 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC at the women’s police station on Wednesday and he was arrested.“I feel scared after his attack. He barged into my home and slapped me. He outraged my modesty in front of my child. He threatened not to let me live peacefully in the society. He even attacked another neighbour who intervened,” said the woman in her FIR. However, according to sources, the argument took place outside her house.“Both the accused and complainant are residents of Nirvana Country. The woman is a member of a pet lovers’ NGO. When the woman compared the accused’s health with that of his dogs, he first sent a text on a WhatsApp group, and when the woman objected, he slapped her. Following her complaint, an FIR was registered early on Wednesday and he was arrested. He was let off on bail by a city court,” said inspector Poonam Hudda, SHO of the women’s police station.
