5-year-old drowns in pit at under-construction house

AMBALA: A five-year-old girl has died after falling in a pit at an under-construction house in Mohra village of the district . How the minor fell in the water-filled pit, is still a mystery for the cops. While playing with other children, she entered an under-construction site where she fell in a pit. The girl was first taken to a hospital, which referred her to Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment where she was declared brought dead by the doctors. Now, we plan to file a complaint against the property-owner,” he added.“After receiving the information, our team visited and inspected the spot.

How the minor fell in the water-filled pit, is still a mystery for the cops. “There was nobody around to rescue her when she fell,” the cop said.“The child was a resident of Babiyal village and had come here to see her grandmother. While playing with other children, she entered an under-construction site where she fell in a pit. When the locals came to know about the accident, the girl was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead,” the cops said.Meanwhile, the girl’s father, Kirat Ram, has demanded a strict action against the owner of the property, for leaving the deep water-filled pit open.“As of now, we have not lodged any FIR in this regard, however, completed proceedings under Section 174 (police to probe and report on suicide, etc.) of Criminal Procedure Code (Crpc),” said in-charge of Mohra police post.While talking to the TOI, the father of the minor girl alleged that the accident happened due to the negligence of the property owner. “My daughter lost her life due to the propertyowner’s ignorance. I want strict action to be taken in this regard so that such incidents can be avoided in the future,” Kirat Ram said.“We have cremated the body of our child. Now, we plan to file a complaint against the property-owner,” he added.“After receiving the information, our team visited and inspected the spot. The girl was first taken to a hospital, which referred her to Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment where she was declared brought dead by the doctors. The minor’s body was handed over to her family after postmortem. The investigation will be initiated only after complaint,” the cops said.
