“With the construction of the 110m service lane at IFFCO Chowk, roadways buses will no longer have to stand at the junction to pick up passengers, causing tailbacks. “The entry point of the NMTs at Rajiv Chowk near Civil Lines is necessary. Presently, the road is not wide enough for them to enter the NMT at Rajiv Chowk, as the 20m-wide road has not been made. Commuters can easily take a left turn from IFFCO Chowk towards Jaipur,” said an official of Gawar Construction, the project contractor.NHAI will also widen the road for a non-motorised track at Rajiv Chowk, so that commuters can easily enter it. The measuring will allow NHAI to determine where exactly the road will be.”The project had been held up by the delay in acquisition, causing congestion at the intersection.

GURUGRAM: The NHAI is planning to acquire land along the service lane of the NH-8 carriageway going towards Jaipur at IFFCO Chowk that has several eateries, including the restaurant Zaika, to widen the service road and ease traffic jams there.NHAI will also start measuring land to widen the road at Rajiv Chowk. In April, the Gurugram administration had disbursed Rs 14.29 crore as compensation to land owners for 3,357 square yards of land in Sukhrali village along the Delhi-Gurugram expressway, which has already been acquired by NHAI to improve infrastructure at IFFCO Chowk.Saurabh Singhal, team leader and traffic transportation expert at NHAI project consultant Bloom Companies, said, “NHAI has asked for the land belonging to Zaika restaurant to be demarcated, on which the service road will be extended. This will be done by the SDM north, who is the competent authority for land acquisition (CALA), along with help from the designated patwari. The restaurant owner has already been compensated. The measuring will allow NHAI to determine where exactly the road will be.”The project had been held up by the delay in acquisition, causing congestion at the intersection. “With the construction of the 110m service lane at IFFCO Chowk, roadways buses will no longer have to stand at the junction to pick up passengers, causing tailbacks. Also, CALA will provide possession of the land near the Sector 29 junction for the 110m service lane and a drain to be built,” added Singhal.NHAI said after the demarcation, it will take only four days to lay the road.
