Arya Toll Infra takes charge of paid parking lots again

CHANDIGARH: Arya Toll Infra Ltd finally took over paid parking lots of the city on Thursday. “Engineers in these teams will check the lots and submit a report to senior officials. The company will be penalized on the basis of such reports in case of an anomaly,” said an MC official.In a respite to Arya Toll Infra Limited, whose contract to run parking lots in Chandigarh was cancelled by the municipal corporation (MC), Punjab and Haryana high court, on Wednesday, allowed the private company to resume work after giving payment as per the MoU. The move followed orders of Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday.On Thursday morning, different teams of the MC engineering department, Chandigarh went to each parking lot and handed over possession of the lots to company representatives after completing paperwork.From Thursday, commuters started paying the previous amount, Rs 10 for two-wheelers and Rs 20 for four-wheelers to the company.Sources in the MC said different teams of the MC engineering wing are in place to check anomalies inside paid parking lots.
