GURUGRAM: The special task force arrested a notorious criminal , the prime accused in the looting of Rs 20 lakh from a liquor businessman in Pataudi, and his accomplice on Friday from Bahadurgarh . The men were planning two murders in Kheda village and Badshapur before they were caught, officers said. Anshul Singh (28), who was wanted in several cases in Gurugram, and Ankit (26), his accomplice, were caught after a dramatic chase and shootout on Najafgarh Road in Bahadurgarh. Two country-made pistols, three live rounds and one two-wheeler were recovered from them. STF received information that Anshul and Ankit, who had been on the run since looting liquor businessman Chandrabhan at gunpoint in May this year, were in Bahadurgarh and were carrying illegal arms. “We had information that the accused were riding a black Pulsar and were on their way to Gurugram from Bahadurgarh,” said a senior STF officer, adding two teams were formed to nab the men.On Najafgarh Road, one of the STF teams spotted two persons on a black Pulsar and asked them to stop. However, they took a U-turn and tried to escape. “Our team started chasing them. Anshul, who was riding pillion, opened fire and the STF officers had a narrow escape. In retaliation, the team fired in the air,” said DIG STF Satheesh Balan.Fearing that they would be caught, Anshul jumped from a flyover in a bid to escape and sustained injuries in his leg. He was unable to move after that. Meanwhile, Ankit was chased down and caught by the STF team. “Both the accused were caught and brought to Gurugram,” said an official.On Thursday, another STF team had arrested notorious criminal Ishwar alias Pali, who was accused of a murder in Jhajjar. Pali, who carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, was wanted in four other cases. A country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from him.
