GURUGRAM: A 30-year-old man killed his wife over a petty dispute at Kaliyawas village in Farukhnagar on Saturday and then attempted suicide by consuming poison. His wife, who was hit on the head with a blunt object, died on the spot while he is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gurgaon and is in a critical condition.As per the police report, following an argument over a domestic issue, accused Vinod Kumar hit his wife Kavita (27) on the head with a hammer, injuring her fatally. He hit his wife in a fit of rage and soon realized what he had done, fearing punishment; he consumed poison to commit suicide. Neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing commotion and informed the police. “When we reached the scene, the woman was lying on the floor unconscious and bleeding while their two children were crying in the house,” said a police officer of Farukhnagar police station adding that Vinod had also consumed poison.They were rushed to a private hospital in Farukhnagar where doctors declared Kavita brought dead while Vinod was referred to Gurgaon General Hospital after initial treatment.A case has been filed against Vinod and his family members under section 302 ( murder ) of IPC on the complaint of Kavita’s family. ACP ( Pataudi ) Bir Singh said the body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem.“A case has been started on the complaint of the woman’s family,” said Singh.
