Hitesh Yadav's father attacked, culprits nabbed in day

The duo were nabbed by Ambala, Kurukshetra , and Karnal police teams in a joint operation from Pipli in Kurukshetra. AMBALA: An elderly man was injured after two persons attacked him and then fled in his Honda Civic car on National Highway (NH) 1 in Ambala on Saturday. After the attack, the cops rushed Ratan to the Ambala cantonment civil hospital. Ratan is the father of assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Pankhuri Kumari and father-in-law of ACP Hitesh Yadav, both of whom are posted in Gurgaon. "We have registered a case under section 379B (snatching and use of force) of Indian Penal Code against unknown persons," sub-inspector, Satyanarayan investigating officer, Crime Branch II said.

The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Ratan Kumar, a resident of Ambala. Ratan is the father of assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Pankhuri Kumari and father-in-law of ACP Hitesh Yadav, both of whom are posted in Gurgaon. After the attack, the cops rushed Ratan to the Ambala cantonment civil hospital. The accused have been identified as Sachin Chopra and Monu Vohra, residents of Indri village in Karnal district.Ratan had gone for shopping with his wife to an outlet in Ambala cantonment on NH1. While returning, his wife Sashi Kumar asked him to wait as she had left something inside the outlet. Ratan parked the car towards direction of his home and waited inside the car. Suddenly, two youths approached from window and hit Ratan in the head. They pulled him out of the car, thrashed him, snatched the car and fled towards Shahbad side. Ratan called the cops after borrowing a phone. The duo were nabbed by Ambala, Kurukshetra , and Karnal police teams in a joint operation from Pipli in Kurukshetra. The cops had started a manhunt to zero down on them. Sub-inspector Satinder, investigating officer from Parao police station said that the matter was transferred to Crime Branch II team of the district police following the initial proceedings."We have registered a case under section 379B (snatching and use of force) of Indian Penal Code against unknown persons," sub-inspector, Satyanarayan investigating officer, Crime Branch II said. He further said that the accused were arrested only because of sync between the police teams of three district . The car was also seized from them.
