Attack on Abhimanyu’s house: Accused go live on social media on way to court

CHANDIGARH: The 20 accused who were chargesheeted for violence at the residence of finance minister Capt Abhimanyu have hailed the CBI probe, especially after the inclusion of 11 new names, which has the names of Ashok Bhalara, Jat leader, and nears ones of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former CM of Haryana In a video which was streamed live from the account of Dharmender Hooda, one of the accused in the case, on FB on Monday, the persons who were identified as accused categorically blamed the national president of All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) Yashpal Malik and his Rohtak office-bearer Ashok Bhalara for betraying the community for personal and political gains. The name of Bhalara has been added as accused in the fresh charge-sheet filed by the CBI earlier this month. The video of the accused had gone on air two days back after Abhimanyu had categorically blamed Hooda and his MP son Deepender Hooda for setting his house on fire.“We are thankful to the CBI probe for bringing out the truth by adding 11 names. We are hopeful that we will be exonerated from the charges,” said one of the accused.During the live streaming the accused categorically blamed Malik and Bhalara of misleading the youth as well as the Jat community and diverting funds for personal gains. The accused also reiterated that now most of the Jat community men have stopped going to their meetings and soon Malik’s name too will be added in the case. “They have collected money to plead the cases pending in various courts. Satish Kadian, one of the defence counsel of the accused, said that it would take at least a couple of months for the issuance of the charge-sheet.“The court is yet to summon the remaining 11 accused. Once they appear before the court, only then the charge-sheet will be served and the case will be sent to the court of special CBI judge for further trial,” he added.The incident dates back to February 2016 when Jat agitation had turned violent and the agitators had targeted the house of the finance minister in Rohtak. During investigations, SIT had arrested 40, of which six are currently lodged in Ambala jail.
