Five miscreants rob Panchkula man at knife point, two held

PANCHKULA: Five bike-borne miscreants, who were on two separate motorcycles, robbed a Panchkula resident of his mobile phone and purse at knife point near Industrial Area Phase-1 on Sunday night. "Pillion rider from one of the motorcycle came near me and aimed a knife at me. The accused fled from the spot soon after.Raj noted down the number of the motorcycles and informed the cops. As he reached Industrial Area Phase-1, five men on two pulsar motorcycles stopped him. The accused told me to give everything I had on me.

PANCHKULA: Five bike-borne miscreants, who were on two separate motorcycles, robbed a Panchkula resident of his mobile phone and purse at knife point near Industrial Area Phase-1 on Sunday night. However, two of the accused were caught by the police within a couple of hours after the victim spotted them standing near a liquor vend.Dharam Raj, a native of Nepal and currently residing in Abheypur village in Panchkula, works as a cook in a private restaurant in Dhakauli, Zirakpur.In his complaint to the police, he stated that at around 12.30 am on Sunday, he was going to his home on foot after completing his work at the restaurant. As he reached Industrial Area Phase-1, five men on two pulsar motorcycles stopped him."Pillion rider from one of the motorcycle came near me and aimed a knife at me. The accused told me to give everything I had on me. He also threatened to kill me if I resisted or shouted," said Raj.According to the complainant, he handed over his purse containing Rs 2,600 in cash and an ATM card along with his mobile phone to them. The accused fled from the spot soon after.Raj noted down the number of the motorcycles and informed the cops. A case was registered case under section 395 (punishment for dacoity) of the IPC and the Arms ACT against five unknown persons.After filing the police complaint when Raj was returning to home, he spotted one of the motorcycle used in the crime near a liquor vend in Sector 19 and two of the accused were also standing there.Raj immediately informed the police after which the two accused were arrested.They have been identified as Sachin Tiwari alias Gajjan, a resident of Sultanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, and Sunny Kumar of Kundi village, Sector 20. Cops also recovered the knife used in the crime from Sachin during search.During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed name of their accomplices as Surender Kumar of Bihar , Ajay Srivastava and Santosh, both residents of Kundi village.Sub inspector Sushil Kumar, incharge police post in Sector 19, said, "The victim's information helped in nabbing two of the accused. The other three would also be arrested soon. The investigation is under progress."
