CHANDIGARH: There are 505 complaints of corruption, disproportionate assets and other such crimes pending with the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau since 2015. Of these, 291 are registered inquiries, 162 registered cases and 62 preliminary inquiries pending with the bureau across the state.With 113 cases pending, Hisar range of the bureau tops the chart in the state. Karnal district has the minimum pendency of 58 complaints. Bureau officials confirmed that pendency pertains to the cases from 2015 till date.Sources said that prominent cases where vigilance probe was pending include the one related to cash-for-change of land use (CLU) permission sting operation by Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in September 2013. The complaints related to assets disproportionate to known sources of income, complaints of corruption in the municipal corporations and other civic bodies and cash-for-job allegations against officers are also pending.In December 2015, Haryana lokpal had ordered the registration of cases against five former MLAs of the Congress and a probe by vigilance bureau in the cash-for-CLU scam. Since then the probe is pending. Similarly, a vigilance probe is pending against an officer in Sirsa who has been promoted and is about to retire.Earlier this month, vigilance bureau director general P R Deo had directed the concerned investigating officers and supervisory officers to complete the probes. The department is yet to show any results though.A senior police officer blamed the pendency largely to non-cooperation of the departments concerned and lack of adequate investigating officers in the bureau. SVB head Deo said, “We have reduced the old pendency to a great extent. We are still working hard to further improve our speed as well as quality of our work.”
