GURUGRAM: Gawar Construction Limited, the contractor responsible for the remodelling of three key junctions on NH-8, has decided to pull out of the Iffco Chowk underpass work due to prolonged delay in removing the petrol pump from MG Road.On Friday, the contractor shot off a letter to NHAI, requesting to excuse the agency from completing the pending work of the right-turn underpass on MG Road being built for traffic coming out of Huda City Centre.“As per our information, Huda has no solution that can be effective in shifting the petrol pump. Most of the civil work on the MG Road underpass has been completed. The pending work at the location of the petrol pump be descoped because we have already removed most of our machinery, manpower and resources after waiting for the past 4-5 months,” read the letter (a copy of which is with TOI).“It seems efforts are not being made to remove the petrol pump from Iffco Chowk. We can’t take it any more,” said an official from Gawar on condition of anonymity.NHAI consultant Bloom Companies has also written to NHAI, asking it to look into the matter seriously. An NHAI official said, “Gawar has requested to close the contract of the underpass. It is under examination.” Sources said Huda had shown 3-4 sites to the owner of the petrol pump, Sukhjit Mann. “I will not take anything less than the present site,” Mann said.Huda did not respond to repeated calls.
