Two officials suspended over wrong RTI information

CHANDIGARH: Haryana health minister Anil Vij on Thursday suspended health department superintendent Rohtas Kumar and his assistant Pankaj Kumar for providing wrong information under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. A sum of Rs 282.21 crore was spent on the same.The minister said the government had given approval for establishing four new medical colleges and construction of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Medical University at Karnal and Shri Krishna Ayush University at Kurukshetra was under progress. He also issued directions to get the matter investigated from a senior IAS officer, the report of which would be submitted within a month.Vij said in reply to a query by a Gurgaon resident, the officials had provided wrong information under the RTI Act stating that no new hospital buildings had been constructed in Haryana after 2014. The minister said both officials had deliberately given such information that had maligned the image of the health department.“The current government had not only completed the buildings of the hospitals approved by the previous regime, but also get new buildings constructed,” Vij said, adding that 86 buildings approved during the tenure of the Congress government were also got completed by the ruling BJP after 2014.
