Students write to Imran Khan for better Indo-Pak ties

The letters were sent by the schools to the high commission of Pakistan in New Delhi on Friday.Ten students from Ajanta Public School and Mount Olympus School wrote to Khan. They wrote about their faith in his “strong personality” and how much they admire him. “You have a great personality and you have a great impression on the people in Pakistan as well as India. You being the PM of Pakistan will help both the countries to resolve their issues,” wrote Vedant Batra, a Class 9 student from Mount Olympus.“We have lots of hope from you. There is a need to shun any doctrine that will lead to conflict,” added Saksham Garg, a Class 10 student from Ajanta. Others expressed hope that the new PM would help resolve the differences between India and Pakistan. Shruti Shakya, another Ajanta Class 10 student, wrote: “I want both the countries to forget about the past and have friendly relations. There are many problems troubling our relations, like water from the Indus river and Kashmir. Both the countries have spent huge amounts of money in stationing their army there, instead they should strengthen their relations. Hope you consider my suggestions.”Preeyanshi Tuli, a Class 8 student from Mount Olympus, wrote; “We have shared complex relations which can be improved. New corridors should be opened for new trading facilities for enhancement of economy.”The schools forwarded the letters to the Pakistani high commissioner. Supporting the move, Vaibhav Kapoor, principal of Ajanta Public School, said: “The election of Imran Khan as the new PM of Pakistan can provide a new ray of hope for bridging the gap between the territories. Students voicing for a better equation between the two nations will definitely have an impact on the legendary cricketer towards improving trade policies and student exchange programmes.”“It’s high time we understand that borders should be demarcated only on maps, not in hearts,” added Neeti Khaushik, principal, Mount Olympus School.
