SYL: INLD to observe Haryana ‘bandh’ on September 8

CHANDIGARH: The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) would, on September 8, stage Haryana bandh to seek the completion of the Satluj-Yamuna Link (SYL) and Dadupur Nalvi canals.The party had deferred the bandh, scheduled for August 18, due to the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee, said party MLA and the Haryana leader of opposition Abhay Singh Chautla after the meeting of INLD's working committee here on Monday. Abhay said no effort would be spared to provide aid and not only would all INLD MPs and MLAs donate their one month salary to the relief fund but also raise money from the district units of the party and individuals for the cause.The INLD working committee also passed a resolution to urge the Haryana government to bring a comprehensive bill in the Vidhan Sabha to help the state employees who face a bleak future in view of the judgment of the Punjab and Haryana high court that had ordered their dismissal.Later, addressing a press conference, Abhay extended the party support to the Indian National Students Organization (INSO) and its demand for direct elections to the unions of the students in Haryana.
