Gurgaon: A 30-year-old man filed a complaint on Tuesday against his wife and mother-in-law, alleging that they forced his mother (55) to commit suicide. The complainant, Ajay Yadav, told police that he recovered a tattered suicide note of his mother (Kailash Yadav) from his Sector 10 house, in which she blamed his wife Bharti and mother-in-law Sangeeta for her suicide.A software engineer, Ajay, who was working with Infosys till March this year, said trouble started brewing after his marriage in 2014. In May 2014, his company sent him to Australia on a project. Bharti accompanied him on a tourist visa. “As her visa expired, she returned to India while I stayed back in Australia. Bharti kept complaining about my mother over phone and she wanted to stay with her parents. I didn’t object,” Ajay said. After completing his project, Ajay returned to India. In 2016, his company again sent him to Australia, and this time Bharti went on a company sponsored visa. “Our daughter was born in Australia in June 2017. I thought that the baby would change Bharti and my mother’s relation, so I asked my mother and mother-in-law to visit us. They did come, but my mother left in July,” Ajay said. Ajay along with his wife visited India in December 2017 and before returning to Australia dropped his wife and daughter to his parents-in-laws’ house in Punjab. Kailash committed suicide in March 2018. On hearing the news, Ajay resigned from his job and returned to Gurgaon. He performed the last rites along with his father in Kharkhari village and returned to his Sector 10 home a few days ago.“I found the suicide note while cleaning the house,” Ajay said. An FIR has been registered against Bharti and Sangeeta under sections 306 (abetement to suicide), 34 (common intention) of the IPC.“We have a copy of the suicide note and are verifying the allegations,” said ASI Surjeet Singh, the investigating officer.
