Simrat Pal Singh, a resident, said, “There are six major townships here, including Tulip Orange, Tulip White, Tulip Ivory, Tulip Purple, GPL Eden Heights, M3M and others, which together house over 15,000 families. “I am now suffering from a cervical ailment, thanks to this road,” Khan said.He added, “It is a particularly dangerous road for ambulances. So, if I am coming from the Sohna side, the road is fine for the first half. However, if I am coming the Jaipur highway, the first half is literally a roller-coaster ride.”MCG officials said that the road was not under their supervision.

GURUGRAM: N early 15,000 families from six townships and three villages are facing difficulties due to a broken, neglected stretch of Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) along sectors 69 and 70.Residents blamed authorities for neglecting the arterial road which has broken down to such an extent that commuters have no choice but to go for extremely bumpy rides on it. A few residents from the area complained of cervical injuries after such rides.According to residents, a 4.1km stretch of SPR from the power grid station to NH-8 has suffered the most damages while the stretch from the power grid station to Vatika Chowk in the other direction is in a relatively better condition. The latter stretch was rebuilt by PWD, last year, whereas repair work was carried out on the former stretch.“However, the heavy rain, this monsoon, as well as severe neglect since that has left the road in disrepair,” said Naved Khan, a resident of the area, adding, “And this problem has only got more acute over the past seven-eight months.”SPR meets Delhi-Jaipur national highway before the Kherki Daula toll plaza. Residents said that the road was very strategic because it allowed vehicles bound for Faridabad or Jaipur to bypass Gurugram city. The road was conceptualised by DLF and was supposed to cater to residents of the new societies coming up in the new sectors. When the road was first built, residents said, it was in a good condition but it had suffered damages since its ownership was transferred to Huda, last year.Residents are especially miffed that there has been no maintenance work since the road was repaired, last year. Now, it has developed craters, making it a commuter’s nightmare. Simrat Pal Singh, a resident, said, “There are six major townships here, including Tulip Orange, Tulip White, Tulip Ivory, Tulip Purple, GPL Eden Heights, M3M and others, which together house over 15,000 families. Residents from these societies frequently use this road.”Residents claimed that they had started to develop several ailments due to the condition of the road. “I am now suffering from a cervical ailment, thanks to this road,” Khan said.He added, “It is a particularly dangerous road for ambulances. I don’t know what will happen if there is some emergency. The stretch from the power grid station to Vatika Chowk is fine because there is a housing society called TATA Primanti whose management has been maintaining the road so that their investors do not have to go through the same hardships that we go through. So, if I am coming from the Sohna side, the road is fine for the first half. However, if I am coming the Jaipur highway, the first half is literally a roller-coaster ride.”MCG officials said that the road was not under their supervision. A senior Huda official said that they would look into the matter soon.
