Ecogreen fined for flouting green norms by NGT

We do not find any reason not to accept this prayer,” the NGT had said in its previous order.Ankit Agarwal, CEO, Ecogreen, said, “We are working on a detailed plan to ensure compliance with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recommendations.”

The green tribunal, in its order on Wednesday, also sought a response from the company within 15 days.“Ecogreen Energy Gurgaon Faridabad Pvt. Ltd. is directed to pay Rs 2.5 lakh for damages to the environment under Section 15(2) of the NGT Act, 2010. The amount may be increased if the violation continues. You are hereby issued a show cause (notice),” states a notice (a copy of which is with TOI) sent by HSPCB to the company.In July, while disposing of a petition filed by Vivek Kamboj from NGO Haryali, the tribunal had directed the company to take steps to manage legacy waste and leachate at Bandhwari plant. However, the company allegedly didn’t abide by the direction. “It is submitted that the concessionaire (Ecogreen) must take immediate steps to manage legacy waste and other waste in the first instance. We do not find any reason not to accept this prayer,” the NGT had said in its previous order.Ankit Agarwal, CEO, Ecogreen, said, “We are working on a detailed plan to ensure compliance with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recommendations.”
