GURUGRAM : A Class X student (15) was raped, filmed and blackmailed, subjecting her to repeated sexual abuse for eight-nine months, allegedly by a youth in Gurugram. The suspect (22) even forced her to undergo abortion when she became pregnant.The youth, Praveen, who worked at a dispensary in Bajghera, was arrested, along with his friend Pradeep (19), on Thursday, after the girl confided her ordeal to her mother and her family lodged a complaint with the police. Preliminary investigation revealed the girl was introduced to Praveen by one of her friends at her tuition classes in June last year.The girl claimed though she was initially reluctant, she started talking to him due to continuous persuasion by her friend. Praveen, along with Pradeep, would come to her tuition to meet her. And when he could not come because of his work, Pradeep used to come and make her talk to Praveen.Eventually, in November 2017, Praveen took the girl to the house of another friend. She was introduced to the friend and the friend’s mother, too. Then, Praveen took her to a room on the first-floor of the house and offered her drink a laced with sedative. He then started touching her inappropriately. As she pushed him aside and tried to cry for help, Praveen pulled her back, covered her face and allegedly raped her.“I had already fallen unconscious. When I gained senses and enquired what he did to me, he said ‘everything is ok in friendship’ and that he wanted to marry me. And when I told him that I would complain to my parents, he said he had filmed the act and would make it public,” the girl said.There after, Praveen started blackmailing her and subjected her to physical abuse on several occasions. She alleged that after some time, she started ‘feeling unwell’. On this, Praveen forced her to take a pill, and gave a few more pills and asked her to take them for two days. Even after that, he continued to abuse her, she alleged.A few days ago, her mother noticed a ‘mark’ on her face and enquired about it. “Initially, she was hesitant, but finally she broke down,” said her father in his complaint to police. The father said she was reluctant to go to the tuition anymore, but they counselled her and promised her that she would face no more harassment. On Wednesday, the father accompanied her to the tuition and waited outside.Once the classes got over, Pradeep, unaware of his presence, came close to the girl and tried to make her talk to Praveen again. Her father then overpowered him and called the police.Spokesperson for Gurgaon police Subhash Bokan said Praveen and Pradeep had been arrested and they would be produced in court on Friday. “A case under Section 4 of the POCSO Act and Sector 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC has been registered at Sector 5 police station, and medical examinations of the girl have been conducted,” said Bokan.CWC chairperson Shakuntala Dhull said, “We have received a complaint from the police that a girl was raped and forced to undergo abortion.” Dhull said she would visit the survivor on Friday for counselling.
