Ambala: 2 siblings die as mud roof comes down during rain

AMBALA: A 15-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother died and four of their family members were injured after the mud roof of their house collapsed during heavy rain in Dalipgarh area of Ambala Cantonment on Saturday.The victims are Honey and his sister Sheetal. Later, the fee of the CT scan was also returned to the family and the treatments of the injured done free." Both had come from Saharanpur to attend a marriage ceremony of a relative.Neighbours rushed to the rescue of the family after they heard a loud sound. They extricated them out of the debris. Honey and Sheetal received serious head injuries and died at the civil hospital.Family members alleged no doctor was present in the hospital emergency when they arrived with the injured children. They alleged the staff asked them to deposit Rs 1,050 for CT scan, which led to a delay of one to two hours in the treatment of the children. They alleged the hospital staff demanded Aadhaar card before starting the treatment. They said the hospital started the treatment only after the arrival of the senior medical officer and them depositing the money for CT scan which they collected from people present in the hospital.Dr Satish, senior medical officer, Ambala Cantonment, said, "I visited the hospital as per my routine. Two doctors Dr Dharamvir and Dr Anvi were present on emergency duty. As the hospital has the facility of CT scan on public-private partnership mode, the staff must have asked for payment. When I reached the hospital, four injured persons were there, and two of the children were brought dead. Later, the fee of the CT scan was also returned to the family and the treatments of the injured done free." Ambala Cantonment station house officer inspector Vijay said, "The bodies of the children have been handed over to family members after conducting the post-mortem at the hospital. So far, we have not received any complaint from anyone."Later, Haryana health minister Anil Vij reached the hospital with his supporters, but was not allowed to visit the injured by the angry family members. Former Congress minister Nirmal Singh and Indian National Lok Dal district president of Traders Association Onkar Singh also reached the hospital and talked to the senior medical officer.
