GURUGRAM: Two days after a fire claimed a woman’s life in one of the towers — B6 — at Tulip Orange in Sector 70, the developer and residents welfare association (RWA) initiated rescue drill safety audit and other measures in Tulip apartments in the vicinity. In the Tulip Orange tower, meanwhile, electricity was restored on Wednesday.“Since the fire broke out at Tulip Orange, we have been on our toes to check if fire safety protocols have been followed properly,” said Amit Saxena, general secretary, residents’ welfare association (RWA), Tulip White . “We are also conducting fire drills. Auditing has also been ordered on the very day when a fire broke out in Tulip Orange. Strangely, the latest audit report by the fire department is missing. It has pointed out that we don’t have emergency lights, electrical staff. Also, all electrical shafts need to be sealed with fire-proof gypsum sheet. It has not been done in our towers. There is a requirement of fire extinguisher and signage, and a fire technician has to be available round the clock,” he said.In Tulip Ivory, RWA members said the community club had been closed for security reasons. “As security measures, basement and club have been shut,” said Simrat Pal Singh, joint secretary, RWA, Tulip Ivory.In Tulip Voilet, RWA members said they had asked builder to hold drills in the area. RWA members of Tulip Orange, meanwhile, told TOI that circuit breaker in the first electrical panel had worked when the fire broke out.However, residents are asking how the fire went upwards if it had worked. When TOI spoke to the maintenance facility, the officials said the fire broke out owing to snag.However, fire officials said short circuit in one of the meters in the building triggered the blaze because of overload.
