HISAR: A former head constable of Haryana Police Ram Singh, who served as the security gaurd of rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh , reportedly committed suicide by consuming an insecticide . He was terminated from service after he attempted to free Gurmeet following the dera chief’s conviction in rape cases in Panchkula in August 2017.Namdhari, brother of the deceased, said Ram was part of the Z-plus security provided to Gurmeet by the Haryana Police. “He was mentally disturbed following allegations of resorting to violence in Panchkula. He was also upset about the bleak future of his children, that is why he took the extreme step,” he said.He said Ram lived along with his family in the dera complex in Sirsa and visited his Shankar Mandauri village everyday. He said, “Ram went to the Naharana canal passing through the village around 4pm on Wednesday and consumed celphos (an insecticide). He informed me about it on phone. By the time I reached the spot with other family members, Ram’s condition had worsened.”Namdhari said Ram had joined the Haryana Police in 2001. He was posted in the security team of the dera head from January 2017 to August 2017. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Vijender Kumar, who is investigating the case, said the no suicide note has been found so far.
