GURUGRAM: A 25-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her residence in mysterious circumstances in Mohammadpur Jharsa village on Thursday morning. The husband and in-laws of the deceased were booked for dowry harassment and the case is being investigated.According to police, the deceased, identified as Madhu, originally from Firozabad, UP, got married to Prashant from UP and was living in Mohammadpur Jharsa village.On Wednesday, after an argument with her husband, Madhu had allegedly committed suicide. We are investigating the matter and action will be taken as per law after verifying the facts," said ASI Narender Singh, the investigating officer. The next morning, her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room.After finding out, Hari Babu, Madhu's father, reached Gurugram and filed a complaint at Sector 37 police station, alleging that her daughter was killed by her husband and in-laws in a feud over dowry. He said that they had thrashed his daughter before and had also taken away her gold ornaments.An FIR was registered against the husband and four other members of his family, Leela, Priya, Babita and Pradeep, under sections 304-B ( dowry death ), 498A (dowry harassment), 34 (common intention), and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the IPC at Sector 37 police station."We handed over the body to kin after the post-mortem. The report is waited. We are investigating the matter and action will be taken as per law after verifying the facts," said ASI Narender Singh, the investigating officer.
