Gurgaon: To meet the power demand of residents during winters, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam ( DHBVN ) has installed 13 new transformers of 200kVA across the city.Officials told TOI that the supply would not be affected on the day of Diwali as all necessary steps have been taken to ensure round-the-clock supply to all houses in the city. “We don’t have to fear about the demand rising on Diwali as all factories and industries remain closed. So in no way will the supply be affected,” said KC Aggarwal, superintendent engineer, new Gurgaon.According to the present infrastructure the per day power supply capacity is 300 lakh units while the demand during winters remains at 169 lakh units per day.Aggarwal added that the discom is progressing at a desired pace on the smart grid project — that is expected to be completed by September 2019. “So far, we have laid 500km-long cables across the city. The staff is working efficiently,” he said.The department has also created a WhatsApp group where residents could complaint if they faced any difficulty owing to the ground digging work for laying the cables as part of the smart grid project.
