GURUGRAM: A milkman set his Royal Enfield motorbike on fire after traffic cops stopped him on Old Railway Road and asked him to show them his motorcycle’s documents on Tuesday. No one was injured as the fire was quickly controlled, but it created panic among commuters, shopkeepers and shoppers.Onlookers recorded the bizarre act and the footage soon become viral on social media. In the footage, a man in his early 30s wearing a camouflage T-shirt and a black scarf wrapped around his neck can be seen getting angry while a traffic cop is standing nearby with an e-challan machine in his hand. The milkman, who hasn’t been identified yet, had two containers of milk strapped to his bike. He was stopped by traffic cops because the bike didn’t have the mandatory high-security numberplate. ‘Om Namah Shivaye’ was written on the rear numberplate in red, which is not allowed as per the norms . He wasn’t wearing a helmet either. A traffic police officer briefed him about his violations — illegal numberplates and driving without a helmet — and asked him to show his bike’s documents.Instead of showing the documents, the milkman got angry. He pulled out the pipe connecting the fuel tank with the bike engine and set his bike on fire. Passersby and nearby commuters fled the area in panic. Taking advantage of the chaos, the milkman too fled. A fire tender rushed to the spot and doused the fire.“We are trying to identify the person. An FIR will be filed against him,” Gurugram police spokesperson Subhash Bokan said.
