Narendra Modi to inaugurate Rs 6,400 crore KMP Expressway in Gurgaon on Monday

CHANDIGARH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway in Gurgaon district on November 19, said officials here on Friday.The expressway will help divert heavy polluting vehicles from Delhi. Cops have banned the entry of all heavy commercial vehicles in the city on Monday from 6am to 6pm. The stretch would have 14 major/minor bridges, 56 underpass/agricultural vehicular underpasses, seven intersections and seven toll plazas.“The width of the median at the stretch has been kept at 8 km. Apart from this, tress like neem, arjun, and sheesham would be planted near the extreme end of two rows on each side.Meanwhile, Gurgaon police have prepared an elaborate plan to ensure security and hassle-free traffic management. The PM will also inaugurate the Ballabhgarh metro at Sultanpur village in the district.A spokesman of the Haryana government said Rs 6,400 crore had been spent on the expressway project and 3,846 acres of land was acquired at a cost of Rs 2,788 crore.He said the length of the Kundli to Manesar stretch was over 83 km.

The PM will also inaugurate the Ballabhgarh metro at Sultanpur village in the district.A spokesman of the Haryana government said Rs 6,400 crore had been spent on the expressway project and 3,846 acres of land was acquired at a cost of Rs 2,788 crore.He said the length of the Kundli to Manesar stretch was over 83 km. The stretch would have 14 major/minor bridges, 56 underpass/agricultural vehicular underpasses, seven intersections and seven toll plazas.“The width of the median at the stretch has been kept at 8 km. Similarly, the Manesar-Palwal stretch is over 52 km long and has 32 underpasses/ agricultural vehicular underpass, three intersections and four toll plazas,” he said.The spokesman said the toll collection on the stretch from Manesar to Palwal started on July 15. The design speed of the expressway was 120 kmph for light vehicles and 100 kmph for heavy ones.The objective is to provide high-speed link between northern Haryana and southern districts and uninterrupted high-speed link for traffic, especially commercial traffic, from Haryana to the neighbouring states.He said two rows of shrubs would be planted in the median. Apart from this, tress like neem, arjun, and sheesham would be planted near the extreme end of two rows on each side.Meanwhile, Gurgaon police have prepared an elaborate plan to ensure security and hassle-free traffic management.
