Gurugram: Sector 23A is reeling under acute water shortage for the past couple of days. “We are buying water from tankers at exorbitant rates,” said Aseem Takyar, president of Sector 23A RWA. “The boosting station is near the market area of Sector 23A and ever since it has stopped working, we are in deep trouble,” said Manoj Bhardwaj, another resident. In October, supply to the sector was affected due to work at the Basai water treatment plant. Residents say their taps have gone dry as the discom has disconnected supply to a motor pump in the area in the wake of Huda failing to clear dues.

Gurugram: Sector 23A is reeling under acute water shortage for the past couple of days. Residents say their taps have gone dry as the discom has disconnected supply to a motor pump in the area in the wake of Huda failing to clear dues. DHBVN has, however, attributed the problem to a fault in the pump’s meter.According to residents, the situation is so bad that they are now left with no other option but to pay through the nose for water from private tankers for their daily needs. “We are buying water from tankers at exorbitant rates,” said Aseem Takyar, president of Sector 23A RWA. “They charge us Rs 1,500 a tanker. The power to the booting station was first disconnected a day before Chatth puja. Subsequently the power supply was restored, but then it got disconnected again on Friday,” he added. The most affected is the eastern block of the sector, where around 1,000 people live. “The boosting station is near the market area of Sector 23A and ever since it has stopped working, we are in deep trouble,” said Manoj Bhardwaj, another resident. However, power discom officials said “dues have nothing to do with water supply”.“The problem was in the current transformer (CT), which is an instrument in the meter. Due to this technical fault, the water pump was not functioning properly. But we told them (Huda) to start the water supply bypassing the meter,” said KC Aggarwal, DHBVN’s superintending engineer (New Gurugram).“Anyway, I heard that power supply to the boosting station resumed on Saturday morning,” he added. When contacted, a senior Huda official said “the water supply has been restored in the sector”.This is the second time in the past two months that Sector 23A has been hit by water shortage. In October, supply to the sector was affected due to work at the Basai water treatment plant.
