He struck again in Gurugram two months later - in January 2017 - this time preying on a five-year-old whose rotting body was found 20 days later. He has allegedly confessed in police custody to raping and killing four other girls in Delhi, one in Gwalior and another in Jhansi "He told us all he wanted was tasty food at bhandaras and young girls to satisfy his lust," said a police officer. The manhunts drew a blank as Sunil led a vagabond life and evaded electronic surveillance because he did not use a mobile phone. He ate at bhandaras and slept anywhere he could, but always had an eye on unaccompanied children.

GURUGRAM: Sunil, a 20-year-old man arrested for savagely raping and murdering a three-year-old girl in Gurugram on November 12, could be one of the worst paedophile-serial killers known to Indian law enforcement agencies. After a day of custodial interrogation, police believe Sunil is a sexual predator who is behind at least nine rape-murders. He allegedly targeted little girls, mostly in slums, lured them away with bait like the promise of sweets or chocolates and subjected them to violent sexual attacks.Sunil, police said, would break a girl's leg with a brick before raping her, a perverted torture ritual that aroused him. He murdered the girls with equal brutality - the child he killed on November 12 in a Gurugram slum was found with her skull smashed, possibly with a brick, and a wooden stick in her private parts. The first of his known victims was a four-year-old child who he kidnapped from a temple in Gurugram in 2016 - her body was found in the bushes behind Omaxe Mall on Sohna Road on November 27 that year. He struck again in Gurugram two months later - in January 2017 - this time preying on a five-year-old whose rotting body was found 20 days later. Both girls, like his latest victim, had head and leg injuries. The manhunts drew a blank as Sunil led a vagabond life and evaded electronic surveillance because he did not use a mobile phone. He ate at bhandaras and slept anywhere he could, but always had an eye on unaccompanied children. "He told us all he wanted was tasty food at bhandaras and young girls to satisfy his lust," said a police officer.
