We were performing our duty when the mob attacked us,” Singh told the police in the complaint.A case was registered against the accused under sections 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (whoever assaults or uses criminal force to stop public servant from performing his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.In November 2017, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had written to his counterparts in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab, requesting them to launch a Haryana-like programme (rehabilitation of stray cattle) to check the menace in their respective states. The Haryana government has also decided to conduct a third-party survey in its districts, which have already been declared stray-cattle free.
