The sub-court in Sohna was set up in September 2013 with two courts, which later went up to three. The need to construct a new court complex came up as the sub-court in Sohna was being run from a rented building of the market committee and was in a dilapidated condition.Sources informed that though the complex had three courts only two were functional as one of the judges was on maternity leave.Another reason for the revamp is that the three courts are of judicial magistrate Ist class ( JMiC ) level which has a limited jurisdiction over cases. In many cases, it was observed that people had to approach the Gurugram court to settle their legal disputes. The new court complex will have courts of JMiC, chief judicial magistrate (CJM) and sessions court. There is also a proposal to shift few sessions courts from Gurugram to Sohna.Built over an area of 4.45 acre, the construction work of the new complex had started in January 2017 and has been built at a cost of Rs 22 crore.According to sources, the complex would have litigant’s hall, separate bar rooms for women and men, record room, witness protection centre and barracks to keep under trials brought for hearing. Besides, the court complex will also have daycare facility where judges, lawyers and even litigants can keep their children.“The court complex will be inaugurated on Sunday and courts will starts functioning from new complex from Monday,” said Ravi Kumar Sondhi, district and sessions judge of Gurugram.
