AMBALA: Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, 100 girls will be facilitated for learning to drive two-wheelers for an independent ride, said district officials. Initiative will also be taken to increase the sex-ratio which has declined in the last few years. Deputy commissioner (DC) Sharandeep Kaur Brar was presiding over a meeting with the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao district task force team.The DC instructed the officials of the health department and the women and child protection department to strengthen the information system to stop the female foeticide and announced that the administration should give a reward of Rs 1 lakh to the informer who would give information to the PNDT centres.“From January to June 2018, the administration had received the information about 6 PNDT centres and in all these cases, the informers have already been rewarded with Rs 6 lakh. This reward was given after the accused of the running PNDT center was nabbed and the process of registration of the case was completed. With the continuous and joint efforts of various departments, today, the sex-ratio of the district is 906 girls against 1,000 boys,” Brar said.In the meeting, the DC also instructed the officials of the education department to avail the sanitary pads facility to the girl students from the available funds.Special focus on 89 villages with less sex-ratioThere are 89 villages in the district where less number of girls has taken birth as compared to the boys in the last 11 months and the administration is keeping a special focus on these villages. Out of these villages, 10 are in Ambala block I, 16 in Ambala block II, 22 in Naraingarh , 10 in Shahzadpur, another 10 in Saha, nine in Barara and others in Ambala urban areas.
