GURUGRAM: The state vigilance bureau on Friday nabbed a driver of a sales tax department official for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
Sandeep was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.“Sandeep will be produced in a city court on Saturday,” said Dharmveer, DSP, vigilance bureau.
Apparently, Singh informed the sales tax department officials about it, but as they didn’t take any action, he filed a complaint with the vigilance bureau.After receiving the complaint, a special team was formed led by inspector Satbir Singh, along with duty magistrate Hitender Kumar.
A plan was made and the complainant was asked to give the money to the accused at a pre-decided spot.
An FIR has been registered against the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act at the state vigilance bureau.According to officials, they received a complaint from Man Singh — supervisor of a packing and shipping company in Palam Vihar — informing that the accused was seeking a bribe of Rs 25,000 to allow his vehicles to ply in the city without facing any ‘tax hindrance’.
