Five newly-elected mayors campaign for Jind bypoll

JIND: Soon after winning mayoral elections in the state, the BJP has deployed its five mayors to campaign for the Jind bypoll Yamunanagar mayor Madan Chauhan, Rohtak mayor Manmohan Goyal and Hisar mayor Gautam Sardana have visited the constituency to seek votes for the BJP candidates. The Rohtak mayor visited Jind on Tuesday late night and gathered prominent people of his community, asking them to vote for the BJP. The mayors have also been asked to woo voters from their castes.In this bypoll, as there is no candidate from ‘baniya’ community, every political party is trying to approach them for support. He also met traders, urging them to stay united and support his party.The Yamunanagar mayor is seeking support from the Rajput community for his party in the election, while his counterpart from Hisar is busy meeting members of the Punjabi community in Jind. Deputed by the BJP, Haryana minister Vipul Goel and newly elected mayor Manmohan Goyal have been meeting the community members right from the day the BJP announced its candidate.Veteran leader and four-time MLA from the community, Mange Ram Gupta has already refused to contest the election on any party ticket and made it clear that he would not seek vote for any candidate.
