Firm owners booked for breaking sealed units

AMBALA: Following complaints of district mining official (DMO) Bhupinder Singh, Naraingarh police have registered three separate cases of illegal mining against different firms. This year, we have registered several cases of illegal mining and made nearly 22 arrests,” said Naraingarh deputy superintendent of police Amit Bhatia. The cops said the cases were registered after the district mining official, during his surprise visit, found resealed screening plants operational.“Teams of the district administration had sealed nearly 18 illegal screening plants on August 31. Later, during a surprise check on December 19, nearly 6 sealed plants were found operational and were resealed by a Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) team on January 2. On January 10, we found five of the resealed plants operational, following which complaints were submitted,” said Bhupinder.“Three separate FIRs have been registered on the complaint of the DMO.

In the first case, the owners of Neelkanth Screening Plant and Balbir Screening Plant have been booked; in the second case, the owner of the Sangrani Screening Plant Unit 2 has been booked; and in the third case, the owners of the Markanda Gravel Screening Plant, Mahadev Gravel Screening Plant, and RR Screening Plant Unit 1 have been booked for breaking the seals again,” Naraingarh police said.All the cases have been registered under Section 21(4) (A) of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code Sud-divisional officer, Naresh of HSPCB, said, “After the inspection by the district administration on December 19, we had resealed six screening plants on January 2, which were found operational despite being sealed. As of now, I do not have the information about seals being broken again.”“As per the representations of the mining officials, we have registered the cases of illegal mining and further investigation into these cases is on. This year, we have registered several cases of illegal mining and made nearly 22 arrests,” said Naraingarh deputy superintendent of police Amit Bhatia.
