Ambala man booked for illegally mining soil near Ghaggar river

The mining officials saw some accused mining soil illegally near Ghaggar river. The land owner and the accused did not obtain any short-term permit from the mining department and were stealing soil. "When an enquiry was conducted at village level, it came forward that the land falls in the limits of village Nijampur and a resident of Jamitgarh village was involved in illegal mining there. No arrests have been made so far," said investigation officer sub-inspector Mahal Singh. We have already asked district police to take action as per law," said DMO Bhupinder Singh.

AMBALA: On the complaint of district mining officer (DMO) Bhupinder Singh, the district police have registered a case of illegal mining against a resident of Jamitgarh village in Patiala The accused, Jarnail Singh, was booked after a team of mining officials raided Ghel Kalan and Nijampur villages and found that soil from nearly three acres of land near Ghaggar river had been illegally mined.On January 29, assistant mining officer Sunil Kumar, along with mining guard Prem Chand, conducted a check at villages Ghel Kalan and Nijampur in Ambala . The mining officials saw some accused mining soil illegally near Ghaggar river. The accused, after seeing the officials, fled with their JCB machine."When an enquiry was conducted at village level, it came forward that the land falls in the limits of village Nijampur and a resident of Jamitgarh village was involved in illegal mining there. The land owner and the accused did not obtain any short-term permit from the mining department and were stealing soil. We have already asked district police to take action as per law," said DMO Bhupinder Singh."We have registered a case against the accused under Sections 21 (1) and 21 (4) of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation of Development) Act and 379 of the Indian Penal Code . The matter is being investigated. No arrests have been made so far," said investigation officer sub-inspector Mahal Singh.
