GURUGRAM: The MCG will carry out a survey of vendors and hawkers who occupy streets outside IT firms, manufacturing units and other industrial units, and will also direct these companies to make arrangements to accommodate them inside their campuses in a bid to decongest city roads.MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav said most companies have food stalls outside their premises, which are often visited by their employees.These stalls, according to him, encroach on roads and cause decongestion and sanitation problems. “We will ask these organisations to allot space to these vendors inside their campuses so that they do not occupy roads,” said Yadav. Manufacturing units, he said, should make arrangements for food for their workers so that they do not need to come out and eat.According to the street vending policy, it is mandatory that the street vendors do not occupy footpaths or roads. MCG will also consult the market and resident welfare associations in matters related to street vendors. Among other things, he said, February 10 had been set as the deadline for the repair of all roads under the MCG’s jurisdiction.
