Gurugram cops to auction more criminals’ properties

A list of top ten POs has been made and a meeting in this regard will be held on Monday. The son of a property dealer in Naharpur Rupa village, Kaushal’s tryst with crime started in 2004 over a land dispute with then gangster Sudesh alias Chhelu.

Currently, over 700 proclaimed offenders are on the run and police will first target the top 10 wanted criminals, including the likes of dreaded gangster Kaushal and his henchmen.“We have shortlisted the names and have approached the revenue department, seeking not just details but also a stay on the sale of any property of these POs. We will then proceed with auction of their properties and if they have to avoid it, they will have to come to us,” said K K Rao.According to DCP (crime) Narender Bijarniya, many criminals in Gurugram are driven to criminal activities out of greed for properties and invests their loot in the same. “Property is what drives them and is dearest to them, so we are targeting that to get them to surrender,” he said.According to a senior police officer, police are initially targetting the big fish involved in heinous crimes such as murder, robbery, extortion, dacoity and robbery. A list of top ten POs has been made and a meeting in this regard will be held on Monday. “This will be a continuous process against the POs who have been evading arrest,” he added.Kaushal (38), now the most prominent face of the Gurugram underworld, jumped parole in December 2016 after he was let out of Bhondsi jail. The son of a property dealer in Naharpur Rupa village, Kaushal’s tryst with crime started in 2004 over a land dispute with then gangster Sudesh alias Chhelu. The fight resulted in nine murders in the two gangs and that stopped in 2006 when Kaushal’s men shot dead Chhelu at Rajiv Chowk while he was in police custody.Kaushal and his accomplices Ranbir Saini and Hooka have been involved in numerous extortion and murder cases. All three have been at large since 2016 and have now made it to the police list.Besides them, Sahid alias Advani, the leader of an ATM theft gang, and robbers Jallu and Irshad have also made it to the list.
