Govt to map Gurugram’s illegal buildings, carry out safety audit

“Separate teams will be formed to carry out the inspection and submit their individual department reports to the district administration,” an official said.While investigating the collapse of three-storey under-construction building in Ullawas village, the probe committee found that the building was being constructed without seeking an approval from the government.SDM Sanjeev Singhla, who is heading the probe, said, “Once we have the list of unauthorised buildings in the city, a safety audit would be carried out in order to avoid an Ullawas-like incident in future.” GURUGRAM: Days after the building collapse in Ullawas village that claimed seven lives, the district administration on Thursday directed MCG and the department of town and country planning ( DTCP ) to carry out a survey and submit a list of all unauthorised buildings in the city.The agencies will have to prepare the list of buildings which have been constructed without an approval of building plan and submit the report within a month.According to officials, MCG and DTCP will carry out an independent survey of their areas.
