Three die in fire as rescue vehicle gets stuck en route

On hearing the commotion, neighbours reached the house and started rescuing the family. Fatehabad superintendent of police (SP) Deepak Saharan, Barwala sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Prithvi Singh along with Uklana police station station house officer (SHO) Krishna Lal also reached the incident spot and collected evidence after inspecting the spot. So, all neighbours had to pitch in to rescue the family. Suresh, Nisha, Geeta and Pooja suffered serious burn injuries and are under treatment at a hospital in Hisar.After receiving information, a police team and forensics experts reached the spot. The deceased include Suman (38) and her daughters Isha (12) and Rajni (10).

HISAR: Three members of a family were charred to death in a fire, allegedly triggered by a short circuit, that broke out at a house in Bhairi Akbarpur village of Ukalana, Hisar district , on Friday night.Four other members of the family received severe burn injuries in the incident. The deceased include Suman (38) and her daughters Isha (12) and Rajni (10). Suman’s husband Suresh Kumar (42), the couple’s other daughters Nisha and Geeta, and their cousin Pooja were injured.A fire engine which had been dispatched to house, which is located in the middle of the family’s farm, could not reach the post as it got stuck in loose soil on the way. So, all neighbours had to pitch in to rescue the family. The family of Suresh’s brother Prabhuram also lives in the same house.Prabhuram, whose hands suffered minor burns, said in his statement that the two families had gone to sleep after dinner on Friday night.While most members of the family were sleeping in the verandah, he was sleeping in a room near it.He said he felt suffocated in the middle of the night and saw smoke and flames around him on waking up.He rushed to his family and burnt his hands and head while trying to rescue them. Neighbours were irrigating their fields when they saw smoke bellowing out of the house.Neighbours Jagdish Kumar, Balwant Kumar and Suresh Kumar said they received an electric shock when they tried to open the metallic door of the house, so they first cut electricity supply and then entered it.Suman, Isha and Rajni died on the spot. Suresh, Nisha, Geeta and Pooja suffered serious burn injuries and are under treatment at a hospital in Hisar.After receiving information, a police team and forensics experts reached the spot.
