AMBALA: Promising free power to farmers, SAD president Sukhbir Badal on Saturday tried to woo Punjabi voters in the state. He also alleged that Sikhs were labelled terrorists during the regimes of former chief ministers Bansi Lal and Bhajan Lal.Though Bansi Lal and Bhajan Lal had later formed separate parties, they had served as Congress CMs.While addressing public gathering at the SAD’s Janchetna Rally at the new grain market here, Sukhbir added, “There are 40 seats in the Haryana legislative assembly on which the candidates are decided with Punjabi votes. So, I urge all Punjabis to come under one umbrella of SAD for representation of Punjabi community in Haryana. If we come to power in Haryana, we will waive the electricity bills of tube wells as was done by our government in Punjab.”He alleged that, “When Bhajan Lal and Bansi Lal used to be the chief ministers, Sikhs were called terrorists and you people were targeted. The biggest enemy of the Sikhs is the Congress. After a period of 34 years, Sajjan Kumar has been lodged in jail and now it is the turn of Tytler and we will not back down. With the help of central government, we have put pressure to reopen the cases of atrocities. Recently, the cases of Kanpur incidents have been reopened with our efforts.”Meanwhile, Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that, “If Sukhbir can send me, a Sirsa-based guy to the Delhi legislative assembly, then it is not impossible to send representatives of SAD from Haryana to the assembly.”
