“I tried to request the family, but they did not listen and called off the wedding,” she said.The district police have registered a case under Section 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act against the three family members.Mullana SHO told TOI, “As the woman’s marriage was called off, a case has been registered under the Dowry Prohibition Act and the matter is under investigation.” AMBALA: The Mullana police have booked three members of a family under the Dowry Prohibition Act for allegedly refusing to marry the complainant’s daughter after engagement.The widowed mother stated in her complaint that the accused at first demanded a Bullet motorcycle which she agreed to, but later when they asked for a luxury car and Rs 7 lakh cash their son who works as a contractual employee at a government office in Sector 5, Panchkula , I told them I could not afford so much.So, after the roka ceremony, they refused for marriage, the complainant said.
