AMBALA: The district police have booked an on-duty lab attendant and candidate for cheating during the computer based test (CBT) of a constable recruitment examination at Shivalik Institute of Engineering in Mullana The case was registered based on the complaint of chief protector of venue Manoharan. The lab attendant has been identified as Pradeep Kumar.As per the information, the incident was confirmed after checking the footage of the CCTV installed inside the examination hall. In the video recording it was seen that the accused candidate kept sitting on different computer systems while the invigilator did not stop him.Manoharan stated in his complaint that on February 5, 2019, in Lab No 5 of the institute a candidate bearing roll no. 6926594 and the lab attendant were indulging in an illicit practice during the computer based test. On February 6, 2019, it was checked that the above-mentioned candidate was changing his computer system again and again while the on-duty invigilator did not interrupt him in doing so. The CCTV camera recordings of the incident are also available. In the first 60 minutes of the examination, the candidate only attempted 6 questions, while in the next 30 minutes he solved as many as 72 questions, which proves that the invigilator assisted the candidate in cheating in the exam .”A case has been registered under sections of criminal conspiracy and cheating of the Indian Penal Code . A cop, on condition of anonymity, told TOI, “As per the CCTV footage, the accused duo have been spotted doing some illicit practice. The matter is being investigated after obtaining all the relevant records in this case.”
