Civil Hospital’s NICU ward worst-hit due to health workers’ strike

“We have asked one doctor from Sector 10 general hospital to come here and attend cases at the NICU ward. We hope that the strike will soon be called off and patients will not face any inconvenience,” Jhakar said.Over 600 NHM workers have been on strike on the Civil Hospital premises since February 4. Due to the lack of doctors and nurses at the ward we decided to take him to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. Two more doctors and four regular nurses have also been asked to look after cases in the ward for now. GURUGRAM: The ongoing strike of national health mission ( NHM ) workers has affected the neonatal intensive care unit ( NICU ) ward at Civil hospital as over 20 newborns had to be referred to other hospitals in the past one week.“It is not new for the hospital to refer cases of expectant mothers and new born babies to other hospitals.
