Crorepatis can avail EWS quota in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: Even crorepatis — individual or a family having immovable property worth Rs 1 crore — will be considered for the economically weaker section quota in Haryana . However, if the property value is a tad above Rs 1 crore, the family won’t fit the bill.The criteria to provide 10% quota under the newly-carved EWS category was approved on Wednesday by the Haryana cabinet in Chandigarh. The department has 19 posts of ASPs which are being filled up by DSPs. As per the amendment, a candidate having 10 years’ regular service as DSP will be re-designated as ASP in his own pay scale, subject to availability of vacant post in their pay scale. Persons whose families own over 5 acres of agricultural land, residential flat of 1000 square feet and above, residential plot of 100 square yards and above in notified municipalities, residential plot of 200 square yards and above in areas other than notified municipalities or any immovable property worth more than Rs 1 crore, would not be considered EWS.

The cabinet decided to grant this quota in direct recruitment to Group A, B, C and D posts in departments, boards and admission to all government or aided institutions.As per the approved criteria, family for this purpose would include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents, spouse and children and siblings aged below 18.The cumulative income from all sources, be it salary, agriculture, business and profession, for the financial year prior to the year of application, will be considered. Persons whose families own over 5 acres of agricultural land, residential flat of 1000 square feet and above, residential plot of 100 square yards and above in notified municipalities, residential plot of 200 square yards and above in areas other than notified municipalities or any immovable property worth more than Rs 1 crore, would not be considered EWS. The income and assets of the families would be required to be certified by an officer of the rank of tehsildar after carefully verifying all relevant documents as prescribed in the instructions issued by the chief secretary and revenue department.Haryana cabinet also approved amendment in the Haryana Police Service Rules, 2002, regarding re-designating DSPs as additional superintendents of police (ASPs). The department has 19 posts of ASPs which are being filled up by DSPs. As per the amendment, a candidate having 10 years’ regular service as DSP will be re-designated as ASP in his own pay scale, subject to availability of vacant post in their pay scale.
