Sugarcane farmers say payments delayed

Earlier two mahapanchayats have taken place at this mill on January 2 and 24.According to sugarcane farmers , for the present season, nearly Rs 126 crore is pending and so far the mill has only cleared Rs 25 crore. The management is promising to cover the gap by releasing the payments soon.

AMBALA: Naraingarh Sugar Mill at village Banondi in Shahzadpur, district Ambala , has allegedly fallen behind schedule to keep its promises, which were made with the farmers in a meeting of the mill management, state ministers, administration and the farmers’ leaders on January 3. The mill is falling behind by Rs 5 crore, which were scheduled to be released till date.On February 14, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) ( Haryana ), led by Gurnam Singh Charuni, held the third panchayat outside the mill to discuss pending payments with the mill and administration officials. Earlier two mahapanchayats have taken place at this mill on January 2 and 24.According to sugarcane farmers , for the present season, nearly Rs 126 crore is pending and so far the mill has only cleared Rs 25 crore.
