KURUKSHETRA: A court on Friday awarded seven-year jail term to a man for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl inside a school in a village in Kurukshetra The the court of additional and sessions judge (ASJ) Lal Chand pronouced the verdict along with a fine of Rs 10,000 on Ramesh Kumar of Ladwa area under section 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The convict would have to undergo 6 months of additional imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.Deputy district attorney (DDA) Gopal Kumar informed that on June 28, 2018, a case was filed against Ramesh under Section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the POCSO Act at the Kurukshetra women police station following a complaint from girl’s mother.In her complaint, the girl's mother had alleged that accused, who works as a sweeper at Senior Secondary School in Ismailbad, sexually assaulted her inside the school premises.After receiving the complaint, the police took Ramesh into custody.
