CHANDIGARH: A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped on the pretext of marriage. The survivor in her complaint to police said she became friends with the accused on Facebook , last year. Later, they became good friends and the accused promised to marry her.The accused who hails from Haryana asked the woman to meet him in a hotel room in Village Daria . He then allegedly raped her. Later, the accused started ignoring her phone calls and refused to marry her. The woman filed a complaint at SSP window against the accused. The SSP marked the inquiry to Industrial Area police station.Police conducted her medical examination and recorded her statements before the magistrate. A case under Section 376 of the IPC was registered. Police is on a lookout to nab the accused.This is not the first case in this week. On Wednesday, Sector 39 police booked an advocate for allegedly raping a woman on pretext of marrying her. On February 14, cops arrested a man for sexually harassing his niece.
