Gurugaman: MP flags off 3rd route with 10 buses

GURUGRAM: Local MP and minister of state for chemicals and fertilisers Rao Inderjeet Singh inaugurated the fourth route on the city bus service , Gurugaman, on Sunday. To start with, ten buses will run on the route — Route No. 215, connecting Garhi Harsaru and Dundahera — officials from Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited ( GMCBL ) said.The first bus on the route will start at 6am daily, covering Sector 10 junction, Kadipur, Pataudi Chowk, Civil hospital, Gurugram bus stand, Maruti factory and Palam Vihar Chowk before reaching Dundahera-Kapashera border. The last bus will leave at 8.40pm from Garhi Harsaru and reach Dundahera at 9.40pm.Singh also took a ride in the bus after flagging it off. “This route connects villages with city hubs. I think it will have the highest ridership,” he said. While the dream of Gurugram being declared a smart city has not yet been accomplished, the city has seen many developments in the last five years, the MP added.Meanwhile, officials said they have revised the second city bus route (No. 112) due to poor ridership. Earlier, 20 buses were plying on this route, which links Ghata to Krishna Chowk in Sector 2, but now only 10 buses take the full route. The remaining 10 buses ply between Krishna Chowk and Shankar Chowk, and the smaller route has been named Route No. 222, GMCBL officials said.TOI had earlier reported on the poor response to the Gurugaman bus service on Route No. 112. Most buses running on the route are almost empty, even though they cover important parts of the city such as Golf Course Road, Udyog Vihar and Palam Vihar.
